Capria Ventures believes Applied AI will emerge as a talent and language equalizer, open up vast new markets in the Global South and amplify the region’s demographic advantage.
We’re Global South specialists who invested through the mobile revolution and now see AI as a much bigger opportunity for the Global South. We started embracing Generative AI in January 2023, and 50-75% of our investments in Global South Fund II will be placed in Applied AI companies.
We are working with 350 portfolio companies to ramp up the adoption of Generative and Agentic AI and have already made ten investments in AI-accelerated companies.

How We Select Applied AI Winners
Start with the foundations
Building on 10 years of selection experience, we use deep knowledge of our local investing partners to focus on conventional areas. Our criteria include founder quality, a large total addressable market (TAM), and a team with a growth mindset. We prioritize companies with solid business fundamentals.
Look for, analyze “Data Moat”
AI is rapidly advancing, and this rapid progress benefits everyone and diminishes many early advantages. However, in the long term, only those who build competitive data moats will succeed. Our team is trained to analyze these moats and collaborate with founders to foster growth.
Applying AI ahead of the rest
We look for companies who have pilots well planned – ready, or shipping soon. Such companies have a vision of how AI will be applied to enhance customer experiences, operational efficienct and improve unit economics, which will also contribute to our competitive advantage.
