We caught up for a quick Q&A with Capria Network Member, Capital Invent’s Managing Partner, Jana Boltvinik, on how and why to increase women’s participation in investing and the kind of impact it will bring within the investing ecosystem in emerging markets. Here are the excerpts:
How does diverse leadership make your fund unique or give you an advantage?
Jana: Numerous researches show that teams with gender diversity take better investment decisions. Women have a unique capacity to get close to the unknown and transform a hunch into a better investment decision.
What is the biggest challenge you see today resulting in the low numbers of women in fund management?
Jana: Predominantly, the venture capital industry is still considered as a men’s industry. But, it is starting to change since recent times.
What tip can you share for women who have the goal of becoming a fund manager?
Jana: Always trust your business intuition.
What is the biggest challenge and/or what are positive trends you see today in making capital available to women entrepreneurs in emerging markets?
Jana: Women and children have an entrepreneur spirit by nature! Since recent times, gender equality has become a top priority for investors in the region, and there is a huge opportunity for women entrepreneurs.
How will you use your leadership position as a fund manager to drive gender equality, health, rights, and well-being of girls and women?
Jana: I will use my leadership position to always search and promote more women in startup teams.
