Empowering farmers in India

Accentuating August

We often savor the delicious flavors of a well-prepared meal, but we rarely pause to consider the intricate journey of the ingredients that make it possible. From the fertile fields where crops are grown to the bustling factories where products are manufactured, a complex network of suppliers and producers work tirelessly to bring food to our tables.

We recently invested in a company that ensures the best quality seeds, fertilizers, and equipment are just a click away. This digital transformation streamlines the entire supply chain, from procurement to delivery. Farmers can now easily compare prices, find reliable suppliers, and ensure timely deliveries. The result? Increased efficiency, reduced costs, and improved yields.

But the benefits don’t stop there. This new way of doing business also empowers farmers, giving them greater control over their operations and enabling them to make more informed decisions.

This builds a great segue to our next segment, where we share more information on the investment deal.

Portfolio Power

We recently welcomed Agrizy to the Capria Ventures family. Agrizy is India’s fastest-growing B2B agri-processing platform, driving supply chain efficiency and SME profitability. They announced the close of a USD 9.8 million (INR 82 crores) Series A equity round. The round was co-led by Accion, a global nonprofit focused on financial inclusion, and Omnivore, an impact venture capital firm that pioneered agritech investing in India.

The investment will enable Agrizy to scale up its business by aggregating excess capacity from hundreds of small-scale agri-processors for its growing customer base of brands in both India and international markets.

GenAI Showcase

“If you give people tools, and they use their natural abilities and curiosity, they will develop things in ways that will surprise you beyond what you might have expected.” Bill Gates

This is so true, especially in the context of GenAI, the most important innovation since the internet.

In this episode of the Wednesday Wisdom with Will our COO Sandhya Thukaram and Managing Partner Will Poole decode Gary Marcus’ theory of whether GenAI is a bubble and how founders can truly leverage GenAI to attract investors.

Partner Insights

GenAI is reshaping industries, and fintech is no exception. Our Managing Partner Susana Garcia-Robles recently spoke with Antony Pinedo from iupana news on the growing interest in Generative AI for the financial sector.

She believes that GenAI has the potential to revolutionize how financial services are delivered and accessed. Read the full interview to learn how companies can use this technology to scale.

Inside Capria-verse

Recently, our colleague Dhruv Bijoor, VP, Investor Relations, attended the Moneycontrol Startup Conclave held in Bangalore. The event featured a distinguished panel of speakers, including prominent founders, investors, and regulators. One of the most memorable discussions was the “Heart to Heart: When Profit Meets Purpose” session with Dr. Devi Shetty, the founder of Narayana Health.

Dr. Shetty’s journey was nothing short of inspiring. He shared how his unwavering commitment to affordable healthcare led him to overcome countless obstacles and build a healthcare empire. His story is a powerful reminder that when your goals align with a greater good, the universe can conspire to make your dreams a reality.

Dr. Shetty also offered valuable advice for aspiring entrepreneurs. He cautioned against getting too caught up in the “what” and “how” of building a business. Instead, it’s equally important to focus on the “why” – the underlying purpose. This insight holds true for most of the founders today as it helps them to stay motivated and navigate challenges with resilience.
